Arsenal in Ecstasy: Star Player Says Yes to Huge Transfer

Arsenal are prepared to pay more than the release clause to secure Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

Arsenal Preparing a Summer Move

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal have set their sights on Spanish winger Nico Williams and are willing to exceed his release clause to finalize the deal.

The North London club has yet to make any signings during the winter transfer window, after failing to secure Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. However, they have been working on alternatives, including Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Sunday’s commanding 5-1 victory over Manchester City demonstrated the squad’s quality. Still, manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear that he wants to bring in an additional attacking player.

Arteta Wants More Depth in Attack

With both Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka currently sidelined due to injuries, there is a growing sense that Arsenal still lack quality and squad depth, despite their recent goal-scoring form.

Earlier reports suggested that the Gunners were unlikely to make any major moves before the transfer window shuts at midnight. However, they are already planning for the summer.

Arsenal Willing to Pay More to Secure Williams

Athletic Bilbao’s star player has a release clause of approximately £51.5 million (€60 million), but it must be paid in full to bypass negotiations with the club. Arsenal are considering offering a higher total fee but in multiple installments.

This strategy would allow them to better comply with the Premier League’s financial sustainability regulations. At the same time, Athletic Bilbao are not in a position to reject such an offer, making a move in 2025 highly likely.

Williams Has Reportedly Said Yes to Arsenal

Arsenal’s confidence in securing the signing is further boosted by reports that Williams has already given his approval for the move to North London. This could shape up to be one of the biggest transfers of the summer.
