Supporters left stunned
The decision has triggered strong reactions. Spurs supporter Reshmin Chowdhury admits she is in shock.
– Tottenham Hotspur contacted TV stations this month, requesting to be primarily known as Tottenham Hotspur, with Spurs as the short version. I’m in shock, Chowdhury told talkSPORT.

She added that it seems ridiculous for the club to focus on such issues when the team isn’t performing well on the pitch.
A branding decision?
Chowdhury believes the decision is likely linked to branding.
– Clubs are generally moving away from geographical branding. But considering Spurs’ current form, it seems odd to prioritise this instead of improving on the pitch.
