Arsenal and Liverpool in fierce competition for English star

Arsenal attempted to sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins during the recently closed transfer window, but the clubs failed to agree on a price for the Englishman.

However, this has not deterred The Gunners from pursuing reinforcements from the Birmingham club, with a new player now on their radar. But they face competition from Liverpool, who have also entered the race. This is reported by TBR Football.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who primarily plays as a left midfielder or left forward, is being closely monitored by Arsenal. The versatile Jacob Ramsey is a key player at Villa Park, and he was already linked with a move away last summer. This was mainly due to the Premier League’s financial rules, known as PSR.

Aston Villa have developed the talented midfield engine themselves, meaning a potential sale would generate a significant profit for the club. The Birmingham-born Ramsey is not only on Mikel Arteta’s radar but also attracting interest from title rivals Liverpool.

Unai Emery has previously commented on the player, whom he is keen to keep in his squad.

– His level is high, and he is improving all the time. That’s why I want to keep him here with us. Of course, there are transfer speculations surrounding him. Maybe other teams want to sign him because he has huge potential at Aston Villa. I want to keep him here. That is 100 percent certain, said the Spanish manager.
