Great Tragedy: 24-Year-Old Football player Found Dead

Croatian footballer Jakov Jelkic (24) was reported missing after a night out in Alicante, Spain. Now, his club has confirmed that he has been found dead.

According to British The Mirror, Jelkic was in Spain with his teammates from the Swiss club FC Granges-Paccot, which competes in the country’s third division. After a night of festivities, he left a bar alone and was never seen alive again. Tragically, he fell into the sea and was unable to get back out.

When he did not return to the hotel, the staff reported him missing. His family shared a desperate appeal on social media in hopes of finding him alive. Now, the police have confirmed that it was Jelkic’s body found by the shoreline. His death has been ruled an accident.

Club’s Heartfelt Farewell

FC Granges-Paccot has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the young player. On Instagram, the club wrote:

“It is with great sorrow that we have received the news of Jakov’s passing. All our thoughts go out to his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who knew him. His memory will forever remain in our hearts. A friend, a teammate, an inspiration to us all. Rest in peace.”

The message has led to a flood of condolences in the comments, with several clubs expressing their sympathies.

Had Scored This Season

Jelkic had managed to score once for FC Granges-Paccot this season. The team is currently in sixth place in the Swiss third division after 11 games, having won four of them.

Next month, they are set to play an away match against FC Ressudens before hosting Montagny at home in early April.
