Chelsea has finalized a deal to bring in a new midfielder before the transfer window closes.

According to Matt Law from The Telegraph, Chelsea has reached an agreement with Saint-Étienne to sign French midfield talent Mathus Amaougou.

The 19-year-old has made his breakthrough this season, featuring in 17 Ligue 1 matches. He joined Saint-Étienne three and a half years ago and has steadily developed into a key first-team player.

Amaougou has been a standout player for France’s youth teams, shining in several international tournaments. Though still relatively unknown on the global stage, he is regarded as a major talent in France.

Chelsea strengthens midfield after injury setbacks

Chelsea has been actively searching for a new central midfielder, particularly after Romeo Lavia’s injury left the squad vulnerable.

The transfer fee is approximately €12 million.
